Chef Mike McPherson
I met Chef Mike while working at a hotel restaurant. Mike decided to leave the hotel to pursue his ventures and he wanted my help for the marketing of his private fine dining service. This project required me to help with Branding, Web Design, SEO, PPC, and Social Media Management.
October 2024
I created a few Instagram Reels with some of the footage that was sent over to me from Mike. There was a change in Chef Mike’s engagements, especially from non-followers. I have posted at least one reel a week and have seen over 1,000 views of his page over the past month. These views can be turned into followers or sales if we can keep their attention, possibly through instructional videos or educational videos. Mike has an interesting philosophy when it comes to cooking that I would like to share.
September 2024
Social Media Management and Web Results from August.
After one month of social media, Instagram has been doing decent.
We gained 38 followers, 1,400 views, and 96 profile interactions. This is from specific instructions not to go on follow sprees, comment, or join other groups, just off of posting. The main change I would make would be to use Instagram reels. I would want Mike to send videos of him making a dish, maybe even step-by-step, or edit a video to be a step-by-step video and post it on reels.
Facebook has been pretty stagnant, I think I will get a budget down for Facebook ads but I will think of a new strategy for Facebook this month.
As for the website, it is doing its job. There have been a few reservations made on the site. I do believe once we start PPC campaigns we will get more leads that will follow through on their actions because of the type of service that Mike provides.
Moving Forward.
The posts that have been performing the best have been carousel posts and customer review posts. The review posts also feature food from the service, I will be posting more that feature the food in the background of the review because it looks a little bit better on the eye than just a blank background amongst other social images. I will also post reels at least once a week if given enough video. I will be using less blank space and images like the one below.
As for the Website, I have just added a portfolio with all the images that Mike has provided me with. Just as something for somebody to casually scroll through. I have also made edits to the website copy to feature some keywords in preparation for PPC campaigns. I will start those as soon as I get a budget for that.
August 2024
My first order of business was to create an Instagram, Facebook, and Squarespace website. Instagram and Facebook would be where I would have the main communications and updates. At this time I will post at least 3 times a week and handle all other interactions. These posts will feature as much food as possible and reviews from those he has already served. All website news will be updated here as well such as site updates, new pages, and any other new additions worth mentioning. The next things that I would like to work on would be videos, style for photos, and the use of Instagram highlights.
The website was also designed to show as much of his food as possible. He has multiple specialties so I feel that showing as much as possible will help in his favor. This will later on be condensed to a few pages that will be categorized into his specialties. The main points I would want clients to interact with would be the forms on his website because that is where Mike would like his main point of contact to be. Down the line I will be using PPC ads to bring attention to his home page, especially once I add a blog, FAQ, and a better-organized/larger portfolio.
Analytics will be checked monthly but I don’t think this info will be too useful until a few months from now.
